Come learn the basics of Pure Land (Jodo Shinshu) Buddhism, which emphasizes devotion to Buddha as a path of self-discovery. The course will combine lecture and discussion to introduce participants to the teachings and practices of the largest school of Buddhism. Class will include short sutra recitation and meditation.
Our Next Metta Gathering is on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 5 pm.
Each gathering begins with Kansho (calling bell meditation), followed by Dharma talk/teaching, guided meditation, and closes with oral recitations.
All levels of Buddhist practioners welcome.
BCSF Monthly Metta Gatherings are held on the last Saturday of each month, except for December (held on Dec 31)
Our Sangha Services begin at 10 am every Sunday (unless otherwise noted on the calendar). Our Sangha services include sutra chanting, a dharma talk, and a gatha (Buddhist song). Services usually last for approximately 45-60 minutes. Everyone is welcome to attend!
Twice a month, we offer services in Japanese at 1 p.m. Please refer to the calendar for details.

The weekly Sunday morning meditation is held at 9:30 a.m. in the temple (hondo), prior to the regular 10 am service. The sessions are non-guided and feature quiet sitting. All are invited to come and engage in this practice to deepen their awareness of the Nembutsu teaching.
