Living a Nembutsu Life - a BCSF Monthly Dharma Discussion 

Second Wednesdays Every Month 
Location: BCSF Social Hall 1881 Pine Street

7:30-9:00 Monthly Dharma Discussion meeting (with David Pating) 

Please join our BCSF monthly dharma discussion group:  "Living a Nembutsu Life" -- join fellow travelers in thoughtful reflection. 
Shinran says we are all travelers on life's great path.  Come share the experience of Buddhism in our daily life,   
Tired of suffering? Learn what Shinran would say?  Understand how Buddhism can help you in work, school, home and play. 
Using Shinran's "Tannisho" as our guide, we will reflect upon what it means to live as Buddhists in a modern world. 
No skills required.  Simply bring your thoughts and experience to share in discussion.

December 10 - Chapter 10*/Epilogue  "Beyond Ordinary" 

*chapter and discussion topics will change according to progress in previous months.

Monthly Metta Gathering

Our Next Metta Gathering is on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 5 pm.

Each gathering begins with Kansho (calling bell meditation), followed by Dharma talk/teaching, guided meditation, and closes with oral recitations.

All levels of Buddhist practioners welcome.

 All schools of Buddhist practice welcome.

BCSF Monthly Metta Gatherings are held on the last Saturday of each month, except for December (held on Dec 31) 


Sunday Morning Sangha Service

Our Sangha Services begin at 10 am every Sunday (unless otherwise noted on the calendar).  Our Sangha services include sutra chanting, a dharma talk, and a gatha (Buddhist song).  Services usually last for approximately 45-60 minutes.  Everyone is welcome to attend!

Twice a month, we offer services in Japanese at 1 p.m. Please refer to the calendar for details.

Classes are each Thursday  6:30 - 8:30 pm   Dates - Aug. 7, 14, 21 & 28

Facilitated by  Sensei Elaine Donlin.

Suggested donation is $25, which can be made at the close of the course;

however, no one turned away for lack of funds. Free to BCSF members.

Elaine is an ordained BCSF Minister's Assistant and has been teaching since 2008. She is also partnering with the SF Zen Center to provide Meditation and Buddhism in the SF County Jail , as well as, is  Buddhist Community Clergy for serveral SF hospitals.

Sunday Morning Quiet Sitting

The weekly Sunday morning meditation  is held at 9:30 a.m. in the temple (hondo), prior to the regular 10 am service. The sessions are non-guided and feature quiet sitting. All are invited to come and engage in this practice to deepen their awareness of the Nembutsu teaching.
